“I had moved to Faridabad to get coaching, wherein we stayed in a hostel and prepared for mathematics, general knowledge, and English for the entrance exam,” she added.

Mukta, who belongs to Rohtak, said she had always been inspired by first Param Vir Chakra recipient Major Somnath Sharma and dreamt of donning the olive green uniform and serving the nation.

“I would appear for the National Defence Academy test after my Class XII to become an army officer,” she added.

On admission of female candidates to military schools, she said, “Till 2022, girls were not allowed to be a part of prestigious military schools, but now they have an opportunity to fulfil their dreams. Our inclusion would make the defence services stronger and more empowered.”

Her mother Manu Dhull, who is a lecturer, said, “No one should underestimate the power of girls as they have the same capability as their counterparts. Parents should encourage their daughters to accept challenging roles so that they become ambassadors of empowerment.”

Mukta’s father Pardeep Dhull said he was proud of her achievements.
